His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met Queen Elizabeth II of UK and Commonwealth, at her residence at Windsor Castle yesterday.

Queen Elizabeth and Sheikh Mohammed exchanged views on bolstering historic relations between the UAE and Britain, particularly cultural and humanitarian ties.

The talks also covered the dire humanitarian conditions in conflict and natural disaster zones, which imposed moral and humanitarian obligations on the international community.

Queen Elizabeth lauded the humanitarian stance of the UAE, which provides medical, food and educational assistance to the poorest people worldwide.

Sheikh Mohammed also met British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Sheikh Mohammed earlier received British Foreign Minister David Miliband. They discussed co-operation between the UAE and Britain and Middle East peace. They also discussed the ongoing talks between the five permanent UN Security Council members and Iran over its nuclear programme.

Present at the meeting were Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister, and other officials.
