At least 70 injured in commuter train accident in Mexico City

The injured are being treated at several local hospitals and there was no immediate information on the exact number of people involved or their condition.

But Mexico State civil defense employee Heladio de la Cruz said there were at least 70 injured.

One train apparently ran into another Saturday on the recently inaugurated Suburban Railway in the State of Mexico, which borders Mexico City. Photos from the scene showed crumpled train cars still on the tracks.

Emergency personnel were working to remove all the victims from the train cars.

The train service was launched in mid-2008.
