'Legal sector plays vital role'

The legal profession has a vital role to play in the sustainable development of Sharjah, it was told at a meeting yesterday.

The breakfast-time event, hosted by Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, considered the challenges the sector faced as a result of the downturn. Representatives of the emirate's law firms and legal consultancies attended the meeting.
"Law firms and legal consultancies play a vital role in supporting the development process at various levels, especially given that the number of legal consultancies in Sharjah has risen to 58," said Hussein Mohammed Al Mahmoudi, the chamber's Director-General.

Discussions revolved around the long-term objectives of law firms and how the sector could leverage the support provided by the Sharjah Government to develop infrastructure and HR to create new investment opportunities in the emirate.
