Sheikh Mohammed wins Arab Media Award

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has been awarded the title of First Patron of the Arab Media by the Arab League.

The announcement came at the concluding ceremony of the fourth Forum of Arab Producers, which was held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo in recognition of the efforts of Sheikh Mohammed in promoting the visual and print media as effective instruments of social development in the Arab world.

This is the first time an Arab leader has won the title, said officials of the league, which reflects the great appreciation that people in the media and the arts have for the patronage and support Sheikh Mohammed has extended to the sector, enabling them to play vital roles in the social, scientific, cultural, economic and political development of the Arab world.

Sheikh Mohammed has been instrumental in developing the media so that it could present a civilised face of the Arab nation, the officials said, highlighting their love for peace, art, culture, literature and humanitarian efforts.
