Resurgent Scott looks forward

Adam Scott may not have won the Scottish Open last week, but he showed enough fight to hint he will be back in the headlines for more than just his relationship with tennis beauty Ana Ivanovic.

The Australian – who celebrated his 29th birthday yesterday – emphasised his return to form with a closing day 66, five under par, at Loch Lomond. The display saw Scott share fourth place with Denmark's Soren Kjeldsen.

The former world No3 has slipped down the rankings following a poor start to the year in both Europe and America. Scott has missed the cut of seven from his past nine tournaments on the PGA Tour and, before last week's performance, his best finish in Europe had been in the season-opening Commercialbank Qatar Masters, where he finished tied 21st. The fact he won in Doha in both 2002 and 2008 will not have been lost.

Following the Scottish Open, Scott said he had turned the corner and pinned some of the credit on Ivanovic. "Ana is a top sports star too, so she understands what is happening with me," he said.

Scott is currently competing in the Open Championship at Turnberry.
