The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (Adach) announced yesterday the launch of a classical Arab musical band comprising Emirati musicians known as Emirati Takht.

The band aims to gather the largest number of young Emirati musicians to work on the traditional Emirati music and mix it with contemporary music.

Abdullah Al Ameri, Director of Adach, said: "The authority is keen to contribute in the deep rooted Arab culture through music. The new band gives a chance for Emirati musicians to present their own classical masterpieces using traditional Arab instruments in what is known as musical Takht."

Al Ameri said the core of this band was formed by four Emirati musicians who were adapted by Adach to support their effort to revive the Emirati traditional music and spread it on the local, regional and international level. The band consists of a number of players on saxophone, oud (lute) and other stringed and base local instruments.
