Bollywood’s current flavour of the moment, Sonam Kapoor, will jet into Dubai at the end of July to give the country a last bit of fun before we all scale back during Ramadan.
Kapoor will be here for a rain dance event in Ghantoot, which is in the emirate of Abu Dhabi but is close to the Dubai border, according to a publicist associated with the distributors of Kapoor’s next movie, Aisha.
“She’ll be making an appearance at the event with her father Anil Kapoor and her sister Rhea Kapoor, who is co-producer of the film,” Svetlana Sharma, Marketing Manager at Cinergy Independent, told Emirates Business. Sharma’s firm distributes Aisha.
The film is expected to hit cinemas in the UAE on August 5.
“As of now, we’re not sure which other stars will attend,” Sharma added.
British novel
An adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma, the film also stars Abhay Deol. It tells the story of 25-year-old Delhi Aisha Kapoor, an incorrigible meddler who believes, in the words of the producers, that “there is nothing more beautiful than a match well made.”
Having successfully found a husband for her aunt, she sets about pairing up a friend with a local rich boy, Randhir (Cyrus Sahukar), who has other ideas. Even as childhood friend Arjun (Deol) advises her to steer well clear of other people’s business, she falls hard for bad-boy Dhruv (Arunoday Singh).
