In our bid to stay ahead in the journey of our hectic lives, we often forget to stop and smell the roses.

So, for those movers and shakers still stuck working in Dubai while the rest of the world goes on a summer break, taking a few days off and checking into the Monarch Suite at The Monarch, Dubai, seems a good way to soothe those frayed nerves.

At around Dh43,000 per night, this suite is one of the largest in the region, with more than 1,100 sq m of living space. Located on the 32nd and 33rd floors, this duplex suite with floor to ceiling windows offers glorious views of the city's financial district, Sheikh Zayed Road, Jumeirah and the Arabian Gulf.

Werner Pichler, Director of Sales and Marketing at the Monarch, told Emirates Business: "The Monarch Suite boasts an extensive range of state-of-the-art technology in a beautiful setting, which combines the traditions of Arabia with contemporary design. At 1,120 sq m, it is the largest hotel suite available to the public in the Middle East."

In that space, the Monarch Suite holds two regally furnished living and reception rooms – or Majlis – and an elegant dining room that comfortably seats 12.

"Draped in silk and satin, the table is set with exclusive, gold-rimmed china, ornate silver cutlery and hand-made crystal glassware. There is also a private movie theatre with tiered seating for up to 10 guests," said Pichler.

For work, or even for escapism, the suite boasts its own private, wood-panelled library and study with leather sofas and a selection of books.

There are three en-suite bedrooms on the upper level that can be accessed by the suite's lift or curved wooden staircase. The master bedroom is luxuriously decorated with soft fabrics and the king-sized bed is adorned with 1,500 thread count Egyptian bed-linen. The master bedroom also has its own study or sitting area. The en-suite bathroom features a shower and steam room, as well as a full sized bath and designer amenities.

"The Monarch Suite also has an extensive outdoor area with private terrace, pool and sun deck that enhance the experience, while a glass-panelled conservatory, accessible from the terrace, offers an indoor sitting area featuring a central channel of water which flows in from the outside pool and provides access to the steam room and sauna," said Pichler.

But the real luxury of the Monarch Suite is something less tangible. It is the butler service that gives guests a feeling of pure indulgence. "Our associates go beyond the call of duty to please guests," said Pichler.

"Once one of our guests requested for a private flight at 02:00. It was late in the evening, around 21:00, and we only had a few hours to book, pay and get all papers cleared for the Dubai–Mauritius flight. Our men worked hard to achieve this and now he stays with The Monarch, Dubai, every time he's in the city.

"On another occasion, a guest had one of our chefs and a butler cooking and serving a barbeque on the terrace at 3am."

The hotel is equally proud of its Mandara spa, which has an extensive list of treatments featuring crystals and colour therapy in a combination of traditional Asian therapies and modern spa treatments. All the treatments are applied by therapists who have been specially trained in Bali, the home of Mandara.

Pichler said: "Our signature massage, performed by two therapists working together, is a unique blend of different massage styles – Japanese, Shiatsu, Thai, Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, Swedish and Balinese. The synchronisation of the two therapists makes this massage a sublime experience."

So go ahead, pamper yourself and feel like a king.
