It's no mean feat breaking into the Hollywood circle, Ronald Anderson will tell you – not less actually convincing those stars to buy your wares, especially if they happen to be 75 feet travelling behemoths, often spread over two or three floors, featuring the latest technology and costing no less than $3million (Dh11m).
But the founder and owner of Florida-based Anderson Mobile Estates has achieved it. Today, his luxury "land yachts" or fully customised multilevel mobile estates are a hit with stars and the well-heeled. Will Smith, Vin Diesel and Sylvester Stallone being just three of his major clients.
"When my customer walks into my unit, I trigger that part of the brain which says, 'I'm home'," says Anderson, who's in the UAE to showcase his mobile mansions at the Big Boys Toys show in Abu Dhabi next week. "It's got cutting-edge technology and all you will ever want for a private, luxury space on the move," he says.
With each "unit" costing at least $3m and taking no less than six months to build, which does not include the conceptual phase, Anderson is very clear of whom his target audience is. "My clientele has always been some of the most influential people and those who are willing to pay a price for it," he says.
"We don't really have the time to play show-and-tell. We are looking for serious people who know what they want and mean business."
And it's all about customisation, he adds. From a bullet proof trailer to an unit that could save its residents in case of a nuclear disaster, everything is possible – as long as you are willing to pay for it.
Anderson, who is showcasing a trailer previously owned by actor Will Smith at the Abu Dhabi show, says he open to a strategic partnership here to build his giant mobile estates. "We have the technology and the know how and the willingness and are open to it," he says, adding that all gadgets and features in an Anderson Mobile Estates trailer are solar-powered.
"It's perfect for this part of the world."
