In a month where ‘Star Wars’ has come out in force to recreate Tatooine in the Abu Dhabi desert, while Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif brought the capital’s corniche to a standstill, it appears another Bollywood star is en route to film his latest in the UAE.

We can now confirm that Akshay Kumar will be touching down in Abu Dhabi ‘soon’ to film his new movie ‘Baby’; this will be followed by a shoot in neighbouring Oman.

The film will see Kumar team up with director Neeraj Pandey in the latest action-thriller, a partnership that gave us ‘Special 26’ last year.

‘Baby’ is said to revolve around two smugglers who start a new business in Kathmandu, after duping people in Mumbai. The film is to be released in time for India’s Republic Day 2015, on January 26th.

Kumar is also expected to jet into Dubai later this month for a promotional visit of his upcoming ‘Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty’, which also stars Sonakshi Sinha; the movie releases on June 5 in UAE cinemas.

Abu Dhabi has been in the spotlight these past few months, with Kumar’s visit close on the heels of another Bollywood shoot in the capital, which sees Roshan and Kaif filming for the action-thriller ‘Bang Bang’ currently.

The movie is the official remake of the Tom Cruise-Cameron Diaz starrer ‘Knight and Day’.

Sources are saying the Bollywood film could also feature in the October edition of the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, with the production slated for release on the second of the month.

Meanwhile, Disney also confirmed in April that the next episode of ‘Star Wars’ was also to start filming in the UAE capital this month. Sources say the shoot has already commenced in the Liwa Desert this week, amidst tight security.

Last month, the UAE also saw the team of the next instalment of the ‘Fast and Furious’, which included Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese, who filmed in Abu Dhabi and parts of the Northern Emirates.
