It’s Salman Khan. And it's a double-bill offer that Dubai-based fans of the Bollywood superstar may not want to miss.

The actor, who has never failed to entertain the masses with his reel and real-life escapades, is jetting into the emirate this week for the world premiere of his film ‘Jai Ho’.

This will be followed by his turn as cheerleader next month, minus the pom poms we reckon, as he fulfils his role as the brand ambassador for the Celebrity Cricket League that has been conceptualised by younger brother, Sohail Khan.

Star-studded premiere

Everyone in the business of Bollywood can vouch on how close-knit the Khan family is; and to prove this will be the Meydan premiere that will see all three brothers strut down the red carpet together.

Salman will be joined by brother Sohail, who is directing ‘Jai Ho’, along with brother Arbaaz Khan.

Don’t be surprised if sisters Arpita and Alvira also turn out in the spotlight to lend their support to their famous brothers.

Joining the Khan trio with leading lady Daisy Shah, along with former ‘Bigg Boss’ contestant Sana Khan.

Fans who are eager to see Khan in Dubai, can head down this Wednesday, January 22 to the Meydan IMAX post 7.30pm for the red carpet walk to the film’s world premiere.

Parvez Khan, Chairman of Pacific Ventures said: “Being co-producers, we enthusiastically look forward to unveiling ‘Jai Ho’ in Dubai.

“The film is a story of an ordinary Indian citizen battling with injustice in the society. It’s a movie we believe will appeal to audiences worldwide. Some excellent action scenes of the movie have been shot at iconic locations in Dubai, and so the crew enthusiastically awaits the reaction of the local audiences.”

Organised by Aura Event Management and Creative Angels, gates for general public admission open at 7.30pm, and premiere starts at 9pm.

Batting order

Following the January affair, Salman will be seen again in Dubai on February 1 for the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) Season 4.

In an interview with Emirates 24|7, Jessica Aziz, director of Aura Event Management, stated: “CCL has grown over the last four years, and this year CCL brings to its fans all its favourite stars under one roof playing Asia’s favourite game, cricket.”

Confirming all the top names, Aziz listed team captains Suneil Shetty (Mumbai Heroes), South superstar Mohanlal (Kerala Strikers), Riteish Deshmukh (Veer Marathi) and Venkatesh (Telugu Warriors) will also be attending.

She further added: “The brand ambassadors of Mumbai Heroes, Salman,  Kangana Ranaut, Chitraganda Singh and Nargis Fakri will be there, along with Genelia D’Souza for Veer Marathi; Charmi and Richa Gangopadhyay for Telugu Warriors; Bhavana and Mamta Mohandas for Kerala Strikers.”

Also attending will be Sohail Khan as the owner of Mumbai Heroes.

With cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar officially kicking off CCL this year, when quizzed whether he would be attending the event in Dubai, Aziz stated: “We are very excited about Sachin launching the 4th season of CCL and would love for him to visit Dubai for the matches.

“However, at this point we cannot be able to comment on whether he would be coming.”

There will be two matches played on February 1, which includes the first   match between the Mumbai Heroes and Telugu Warriors and the second match between Kerala Strikers and Veer Marathi.

Tickets for the event are on sale, with prices starting at Dh25 and going up to Dh3,000.

The matches will be held at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

With so many celebrities now lending their name to sporting events – John Abraham being the latest to invest in the Hockey League – Aziz agreed that the business of sport was at the cusp of exploding from a sporting arena to an entertainment one.

She further added: “Sports in general have always been a form of entertainment for one and all. Adding celebrities to it adds to the glamor factor while entertaining the masses.”
