Bollywood ace director Yash Chopra has been hospitalised after being diagnosed with dengue.

The 80-year-old filmmaker felt slight uneasiness on October 11 and the day after he attended actor Amitabh Bachchan's birthday bash.

The Chopra family took precautionary measures and admitted him in Mumbai's Lilavati hospital.

"Mr Yash Chopra was admitted to hospital yesterday after being diagnosed with an attack of dengue. He has been kept under observation. He is feeling much better and should be home soon," an official statement from Yashraj Films was sent to Emirates 24|7.

Yash Chopra's health scare comes few days after his announcement, on his 80th birthday, that 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' will be his last ever directed film.

Mr Chopra has decided to bid goodbye to film direction after the completion of Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma starrer, ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, slated to release in Diwali.

The last film Chopra directed was ‘Zeer-Vaara’ seven years ago.

‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ is almost complete barring one romantic song with SRK and Katrina.

There are two big romantic numbers in the film’s soundtrack, which was launched on 9 October 2012. They are ‘Saans,’ performed by Shreya Ghoshal and Mohit Chauhan and the title track ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan,’

performed by Javed Ali and Shakthisree Gopalan. As the video promo to ‘Saans’ has already released, it is most likely that the song they are going to film for is the title track.

Chopra planned his last shoot in Switzerland which will mark the end of Chopra’s fifty-three year career.

But now the prolific director is down with a dengue attack.

The time-course of dengue in most individuals is a period of incubation of 10-14 days, followed by up to a week of acute symptoms, followed by a few days of recovery; rarely do the symptoms extend beyond two weeks for typical dengue infection.

Considering the situation it might take some time before Yash Chopra can travel and resume shooting.

This might possibly mean a delay in 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' release. This situation will arise only if Yash Chopra doesn't recover in time and is unable to travel to Switzerland according to the plans.

Again if son Aditya Chopra, who is assisting his father, takes over the charge of direction the movie might be on track for its Diwali release.

Yash Raj Films did not confirm to us about the delay of shoot or about Aditya Chopra taking over the Switzerland schedule.

‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ has been shot in London and a small part has been shot at Yash Raj banner’s favorite location Kashmir.

For the first time Oscar winner AR Rahman is teaming up with Yash Raj Banner and the lyrics has been penned by Gulzar.

But at this moment we wish Yash Chopra a speedy recovery.
