Sir David Frost, in an interview in 1977, had cornered one of the most powerful men in US; now seated opposite him was one of the most beautiful women in the World and she too came out of her closet and confessed.
Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan revealed in an interview to the British Journalist her reservation about enacting intimate scenes.
The lady who shared a passionate kiss with fellow actor Hrithik Roshan in 'Dhoom 2' admits she was uncomfortable displaying such affection on screen.
Talking to Frost Ash mentioned particularly the kiss in 'Dhoom 2' which lasted only for a couple of seconds. That was definitely not her first one; she shared a kiss with her then boyfriend Vivek Oberoi in 'Kyun pyar ho gaya na' (comfortably ignored).
But Ash faced pubic ire after her 'Dhoom 2' act and received legal threats following the movie's release. The scene was later chopped off from the movie.
The 39-year-old actress said, "I actually got a couple of notices, legal notices, from some people in the country turning around and saying "You are iconic, you’re an example to our girls you have led your life in such an exemplary manner, they’re not comfortable with you doing this on screen so why did you?"
"And I was like wow, I’m just an actor, doing my job, and here I am being asked to offer an explanation for a couple of seconds in a two, three hour piece of cinema."
Aishwarya, who had already made head way to Western movies by then, had her doubts before signing 'Dhoom 2' for this one scene.
She quickly added that her stance remains the same for both overseas movies as well as Hindi movies.
Speaking about her foreign venture, she said, "I had already declined a couple of scripts purely on the basis of not being comfortable with the very physical scenes and the kissing because I’d never done that on screen and I just wasn’t very comfortable with the idea."
But the actress tried to test the waters with 'Dhoom 2' which ultimately created quite a storm.
After a lifetime at the forefront of television Sir David Frost travels the globe and explores the world of some of its most important newsmakers.
The Frost Interview, the series of eight, one-hour interviews, includes prominent personalities like Jose Ramos-Horta, Sir Paul McCartney, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
He travelled all the way to Mumbai, India to interview Aishwarya and Sir David Frost feels Aishwarya made the perfect subject.
Many within the Hindi film fraternity raised an eyebrow about Frost's selection stating Indian cinema has far more taller personalities who have made significant contributions in the field.
Frost insisted, “Juxtaposed against changes sweeping through India, her arrival on the scene and her films have undoubtedly made a significant impact.”
Even though Ash is readily available to the foreigh media, she remains elusive to Indian media after her pregnancy sabbatical.
She made several appearances on Oprah Winfrey’s show, including her recent one after giving birth to daughter Aaradhya.
She was also seen on The David Letterman Show in 2005 and now The Frost Interview.
Aishwarya Rai's interview with Frost can be seen on Al Jazeera English channel.
The Frost Interview can be seen each week at the following times GMT: Friday: 2000; Saturday: 1200; Sunday: 0100; Monday: 0600.
