After the successful remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Agneepath’, Bollywood is now gearing up for yet another Big B film remake, ‘Zanjeer’.
After an initial legal tiff, the producers of the remake are now treading a safe path.
A source reveals, “‘Zanjeer’ had an iconic song, ‘Yaari hain iman mera yaar meri zindagi’. The rights of this song have been legally bought over by the filmmakers.
The filmmakers want to remix the song and include it in the remake of ‘Zanjeer.’
A new composer, Meet brothers, has been roped in to compose the remix.”The remake was caught up in controversy after the original writers of the film, Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan, expressed displeasure at the remake and took legal action.
The star of the original film though seemed to see the remake as a compliment of sorts.
Amitabh Bachchan had posted on his blog, “I do hope they will make a successful film. It is a compliment to the film being remade it was worthy of remaking when you had a hand in making the original. How many films do carry the benefit of a remake, is what needs to be appreciated also.”
The legalities have now been pushed to the background as shooting has begun. Amit Mehra, son of Prakash Mehra who directed the Amitabh starrer ‘Zanjeer,’ is producing the remake.
The 2012 version will be directed by Apoorva Lakhia, with Ram Charan Teja playing Big B’s role and Priyanka Chopra playing Jaya Bachchan’s character.
