It took Celine Dion and René Angelil nine months and five days to name their twin sons.
Why? Because Dion claims to have looked at 15,000 possibilities, in both French and English.
She has finally settled on Eddy and Nelson, named after Eddy Marnay, producer of many of her first several albums, and Nelson Mandela, the first elected South African president, who she met in 2008 while on tour in South Africa.
The name Nelson was originally popularized by another hero, the British Admiral Horatio Nelson, the victor of the Battle of Trafalgar.
Eddy is, of course, a diminutive form of Edward, one of the classics of English nomenclature, used since medieval times and borne by eight kings of England.
After all that work, you'd have thought she'd find something a little more memorable.
