Dhoom 3: Can Katrina Kaif match Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's oomph?

The phrase ‘Dhoom Girl’ usually brings to mind the image of a slim, tall, shapely and attractive woman attired in beautiful clothes who compels the males in her vicinity to give her a second look.
 
The ‘Dhoom Girl’ must fulfill certain criteria. She has to have a ‘perfect’ body, beautiful hair, stunning features and must be scantily dresses as well. The criterion mentioned above is based on the stats of the girls who have featured as 'Dhoom' girls in the first and second editions of the film.

Yash Raj Film's 'Dhoom' series believes in getting only hot and sizzling heroines on board to play the lead role. The third edition will be no exception and Katrina Kaif too is expected to sizzle on screen like her predecessors.

The model-turned Bollywood star has been sweating it out to look her svelte best.
 
However, Katrina has very tough precedent to follow.
 
To outshine the lean and tanned avatar of Doom 2's Sunahari (played by none other than Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), will be no mean task for Katrina Kaif.

Katrina has so far been given little exposure in the film's promotions so far - whether it is the poster or the initial trailer. However, from the little glimpse that was offered, it is obvious that she has not outdone the svelte, tanned, hot and sexy avatar of Aishwarya.

In the adrenaline-pumping entertainer franchise, the hero (or let's say the anti-hero) is at the heart and soul of the movie, leaving the female lead to mostly play the much-inferior role of a 'beautiful accomplice'.

Aishwarya, as usual, didn't excel in terms of acting, but as the seductive moll, she held everyone's attention. Her 'Catwoman' look in the second instalment kept her fans on the edge of their seats.

The ladies who have bagged the coveted role in the previous Dhoom films, namely, Esha Deol, Rimi Sen and Bipasha Basu had to look extremely stylish. In fact, Esha had to lose quite a few kilos before the film hit the floors.

Esha went from being curvy to svelte, displaying oodles of sensuality on-screen.
 
All the previous 'Dhoom' girls left a mark of their own in the films.

Unfortunately, going by the initial trailer of the third and forthcoming installment, Katrina brings nothing new to the series.

In fact, she sports pretty much the same looks as she does in all movies, whether it is in terms of hairstyle, heavily-accented Hindi dialogue delivery, expression (we know she tries hard). The fact that she is taller than Aamir Khan will also not endear her to the film's followers (sigh!).

The only point in Katrina's favour is her overall popularity and innate ability to carry off a stylish character. After all, she has done it on numerous occasions in the past as an arm candy.

However, fans are sure to wonder how long a pretty face and a stylish attitude (even as great as hers) will continue to work wonders for the ever-maturing movie goers.
