Everything about Miss World 2013, Philippines' Megan Young

"I promise to be the best Miss World ever," Miss Philippines, Megan Young, was crowned Miss World on Saturday amid tight security on Indonesia's resort island of Bali.
 
Large number of Filipino fans who traveled to witness the 63rd annual event celebrated by jumping and waving the country's flag.

But 23-year-old Megan Young is still unknown to the world.

In the final round she had 30 seconds to respond to "why you should be Miss World 2013". And she replied, "Miss World treasures the core values of humanity and that guides me into understanding people, why they act the way that they do, how they live in their lives, and I will use the core values in my understanding, not only helping others but to show other people, how they can understand others, to help others so that as one together, we shall help society".
 
Born on 27 February, 1990, Megan is a Filipino American actress and model.

She completed her studies in high school in Trinity University of Asia in Quezon City. At present, she is majoring in Digital Film Making at the La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. Her dream is to become a film director one day.

Megan was crowned Miss World-Philippines 2013 on August 18 that made her eligible to represent her country at the Miss World international pageant.

Megan Young got her first big break in 2012 when she played the lead actress in a Philippine romantic-drama TV series called Hiyas.
 
She was always a known face, thanks to her appearance as one of the celebrity housemates in Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition 2, dubbed as "The Princess of Charm".

But her first television appearance dates back to a youth oriented show produced by ABS-CBN called "Star Magic Presents" Astigs and Abt Ur Luv.

In 2009, she was one of four personalities introduced as video jockeys for the re-launching of Channel [V] Philippines.
 
Besides television, Young has also starred in a few films, one of which was 'The Reunion', where she played Toyang, opposite Xian Lim.

Young is also named as one of the National Peace Ambassadors on 14 September, 2012
 
This is the first time the Philippines has won a Miss World title crown in the 63-year history of the London-based pageant.

The country has won the Miss Universe title twice, Miss International four times, Miss Earth once and Miss Supranational also once, this year.
 
The closest the Philippines came to win the Miss World title before were in 1973 with Evangeline Pascual and in 2011 with Gwendoline Ruais.  Both finished first runner-up.
