Farhan Akhtar to divorce wife Adhuna after 15 years of marriage

Indian actor Farhan Akhtar and his wife Adhuna Akhtar have decided to go separate ways.

The couple have been married for 15 years and it is still not clear why they have decided to get divorce.

They have two daughters, Shakya and Akira.

On Wednesday (January 20), Farhan and Adhuna are said to have released an official statement which read, "This is to announce that we, Adhuna and Farhan, have mutually and amicably decided to separate. Our children remain our priority and it is immensely important to us, as responsible parents, that they be protected from unwarranted speculation and public glare. We sincerely request that we are given the privacy that is required at this time to move forward in a dignified manner."

Speculations within the industry were rife about the growing issues between the couple. Rumours grew louder when Adhuna did not accompany Farhan during 'Wazir' release or during any recent events.

The couple met for the first time on the sets of Farhan's directorial debut, 'Dil Chahta Hai'.

Adhuna, who is six years older to Farhan, also debuted as a hair stylist in Bollywood with the movie and established an impression in the field of hairstyling beyond Bollywood.

After receiving immense appreciation for her unusual hair-dos for ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ cast – Aamir, Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta and Akshay Khanna, she went on to work in Farhan’s second movie ‘Lakshay’.

A lot was focused on Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta’s hairstyles in the film, and how it changed as their personality developed.

Apart from being a hairstylist on the set of Farhan’s movies, she has opened chains salons across India under the brand ‘b:blunt’.

She also co-hosts B-Blunt, which airs on TLC.
