Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha started her year with a disastrous 'Tevar'.

The actress is now pulling out all stops to surprise her fans and busy preparing for AR Murgadoss' next 'Akira'.

The film, as the title explains, is a heroine oriented project with Sonakshi in the lead.

Sonakshi plays the role of a misunderstood girl who is forced to fight back when she is pushed to the wall. The movie highlights a strong social message and it focuses on the safety of women.

The 'Holiday' girl is working hard to become 'Akira' meaning 'graceful strength'.

Sona is sweating it out in the gym these days.

She chronicles her training programme on Instagram, we are mighty impressed with what we see.

Sonakshi, who is believed to have dropped 30 kgs before making her debut in 2010 blockbuster 'Dabangg', has publicly spoken about battling weight issues and how scrutinizing and judging female celebrities' bodies has become a national obsession.

The wisecracks of Twitter never run out of unflattering things to say about her weight, the circumference of her upper arm or her forehead.

"She has a forehead that could fit an eight-lane highway."

"When she dances, she and her tummy get jiggy with it."

"The reason why there are so many solo shots of Sinha in her movies is because if she's in the frame, no one else can fit."

However, Sonakshi doesn't come across as affected. She carries herself confidently, she is not pencil thin, she’s neither obese nor skinny.

"I am here to act and not be size zero," Sinha said in an interview.

The recent change for 'Akira' is a statement in itself of how Sonakshi can transform when she wants to not forced to.

'Akira' is the Hindi remake of Tamil hit Mounaguru and will be shot in Mumbai, Pune and Rajasthan.

Sonakshi and Murgadoss have teamed up for the second time after 'Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty'.

Akira reportedly, also features Sonakshi's father Shatrughan Sinha. The veteran actor plays her father in the film and guiding force. However, they don't share screen space in the film.

Sonakshi is training hard for her role which involves some action and stunts. Her preparation for the film includes a 30-day workshop under martial arts experts from Thailand.
