A claim made by Drudge Report says that actor Leonardo DiCaprio will be raped by a bear in his upcoming movie 'The Revenant'
Fans reacted strongly to this report and were thinking of skipping DiCaprio's next big film after reading reports on Tuesday that it includes a disturbing sequence with a bear.
Refuting rumours of any sexual assault, Fox Studios has issued a statement clearing the actual facts.
In a statement, the studio said the 'Titanic' actor was attacked by a female bear which was protecting her cubs, Us magazine reports.
The studio also pointed out that DiCaprio, who will portray the role of real-life frontiersman Hugh Glass in film, was attacked by a bear while depicting the scene during an 1823 expedition of the American wilderness.
Earlier, there were rumours that the actor's character Glass was brutally attacked by a bear who reportedly then flips him over on his back and proceeds to molest him.
The scene in question appears briefly in the film's trailer and shows DiCaprio being viciously mauled by a bear.
Helmed by Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez, the forthcoming adventure-thriller film will also star actors Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter among others and is slated to hit US theaters on December 25, in a limited release, before premiering wide on Jan 8, 2016.
