Tamil star Kamal Haasan in Dubai for 'Uttama Villain' premiere

Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan jetted into Dubai for the Dubai premiere ‘Uttama Villain’ at Golden Cinema.

Fans thronged outside the theatre, opposite Al Ghubaiba Metro Station in Bur Dubai, to catch a glimpse of their movie star.

Others stars of the movie – Jayram, Pooja Kumar, and Andrea – also graced the occasion, and entertained the audience to songs, dance and fun banter. The traditional Malayalam folk music ‘chendamelam’ added colour and rhythm to the celebrations.

The big screening last weekend also marked the closure of Dubai’s last independent theatre.

The iconic Golden Cinema, which seats 1,500, was opened in 1972.

Over the last few weeks, the theatre has hosted premieres for two big South Indian movies – Mani Ratnam’s Tamil romantic-drama ‘OK Kanmani’, and a popular Malayalam comedy ‘Orru Vadakkan Selfie’.

The theatre is also known to celebrate big premieres for Bollywood and South Indian movies.

South Indian  actors Dulquar Salmaan and Nivin Pauly also walked the red carpet.
