Remake of South Indian movies is a trend that Bollywood is not willing to give away any time soon. And they have always proved to be a rich dividend for the makers.
It was Aamir Khan's 'Ghajini' which reignited the old trend.
Salman Khan followed with his blockbuster 'Wanted' which is a remake of the Tamil movie 'Pokkiri', and Akshay Kumar made a smashing comeback as action hero with 'Rowdy Rathore', inspired completfrom the Telugu super hit 'Vikramarkudu', remake is again in vogue.
Now the next big Khan - Shah Rukh Khan's turn to cash on the formula of remaking hit South Indian films, reports Daily Mail.
Shah Rukh Khan is all set to go for the 'Madras Cut'. In his career span of 20 years this will be the first time SRK will be seen working in a remake of an action film.
It is a typical South action movie, full of loud violence and melodrama.
The 'Ramanaa' remake 'Madras Cut' will be produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has just tasted success with the remake formula as the producer of 'Rowdy Rathore'.
Unconfirmed reports also suggest that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan may be making her comeback with this film.
'Ramanaa' is the story of a professor who wants to erase corruption with the help of his ex-students.
Sources said SRK was keen to do a remake loaded with South Indian masala because the genre is currently working well with audiences.
The last two action movies by Shah Rukh Khan - 'RA.One' and 'Don 2' proved to be duds at the box office.
Hopefully the spicy action and re-packaged South Indian film will work in his favour.
