How, where to join Jackie Chan, Antonio Banderas & Co in Dubai

Star-spotting in Dubai is becoming a regular thing as more of Hollywood, along with a few sporting legends, hob-knob it to the emirate later this week.

This time its actor Dennis Quaid, ‘Hellboy’ Ron Pearlman, ‘The Martian’s’ Michael Peña and Kevin ‘Hercules’ Sorbo that will give the paparazzi something to snap about as the quartet jets in for the Dubai Celebrity Smash taking place on October 16.

Other notable names joining this glittering line-up includes football legend Luis Figo, Bollywood ‘Bad Man’ Gulshan Grover and professional golfers Carly Booth and Melissa Reid.

The Dubai Celebrity Smash will feature multiple sporting activities including golf, karting, paintball, volleyball, soccer, rugby, basketball that will have local and international celebrities at the helm; the event will kick off on Friday with the Dubai Celebrity Golf Tournament.

Organisers say these celebrity fueled sporting events are designed to bridge the gap between UAE sports lovers and celebrities to shine a light on local charities and foundations, the UAE chapter of Make-A-Wish Foundation UAE that grants the wishes of children living with life-threatening medical conditions.

The weekend event will end with a gala and awards dinner at Annex, Burj Khalifa.

In a media statement, Portugese legend, Figo said: “This new event combines two of my biggest loves – golf and travel. I have long been a fan of Dubai and always wanted to play on its world-famous courses, and I am thrilled to have the chance to do just that in October.”

Tickets for the event are already on sale.

Over the past 10 days, Dubai has thrown open its doors to welcome a host of international celebrities, including the cast and crew of ‘Star Trek Beyond’, with Chris Pine, Idris Elba, Zachary Quinto and Simon Pegg as some of the biggest names on the roster that have flitted through Dubai International Financial Centre, Jumeirah Lakes Towers and parks of Sheikh Zayed Road for the shoot.

Meanwhile, Jackie Chan’s ‘Kung Fu Yoga’ has seen the actor, along with Bollywood’s Sonu Sood, shut down parts of Business Bay and Downtown Dubai, while taking a break to dine five-star at Nobu, Atlantis The Palm.

Earlier this week, Hollywood’s Antonio Banderas and Maisie Williams from ‘Game of Thrones’ also dropped into the emirate as part of promotional activity for OSN pay-TV network.
