MasterChef India 3: Meet the top eleven contestants

Eleven amateur cooks whisks, splashes, rolls, bakes, burns and toils in the MaterChef India kitchen for the coveted title of 'superstar of kitchen'.

The contestants are armed with MasterChef aprons and face-first into the produce for the opening challenge. Throw morsels into the presenters' gaping grub cavities until they burp their gaseous praise or displeasure.

Let's take a closer look at the top eleven contestants of the cooking show:

Khoku Patra: From a very young age Khohu started working as a house maid with no education. Cooking for others she realized that's what she loves. It was these very people for whom she worked encouraged her, filled her forms and got her to participate and eventually be a contestant on MasterChef. Having to cook in so many different households has sharpened her skills in almost all cooking forms.

Navneet Rastogi: The 29-year-old caterer from a small town Varanasi had made it in the Top-20 in the last season of MasterChef India but soon got eliminated. Navneet is more determined now. This year he has returned with the sole intention of winning the MasterChef Kitchen ke Superstar title.

Devyani Bhatti: A 23-year old housewife is a BSc graduate from Jaipur. Though Devyani comes from a conservative family but after her marriage her husband and in-laws have been supportive of her dreams. Devyani wanted to participate on the show from the first season. She wishes to prove to the world that a girl from a traditional family can be an achiever too.

Aditi Madan: A 35-year-old housewife Aditi Madan hails from the royal family of Sikkim and is currently residing in Jaipur after getting married to a Punjabi man from Haryana. Aditi quit her Human Resources career and also changed her name to gain acceptance from her husband's family. Aditi hopes to regain her identity as a cook through this platform.

Ripu Daman Handa: A gym instructor who is only 23-year old wanted to study Hotel Management but his parents wanted him to become a doctor. His profession has helped him gain good knowledge about nutritional facts. This combined with his passion to cook results in delicious yet healthy dishes.

Nisha Verma: The 47-year-old Nisha teaches cooking to all who wish to learn the art. She charges minimum fees, barely managing to earn, but it’s her passion for cooking that has driven her to push herself for the same. She regards her cooking not just as a culinary art, but also as a form of communication, wherein one can express their skills, emotions and ideas in a dish.

Doyel Sarangi: The 27-year-old housewife who holds a degree in Nutrient/Human Psychology from Kolkata has a very positive attitude which has won her many brownie points. Her filmmaker-husband has encouraged her lot to come out of the small nuclear family comprising of them and their 2 year old son and be more than just a housewife.

Happy Singh: The 25-year-old Happy Singh from Ajmer is a tattoo artist and the lead singer of a band. Apart of it, Happy also runs a small eatery, which serves 40 different types of Chole Bhature. He asserts that other than cooking, presentation and innovation are also important attributes required by a true chef.

Ishrat Ali: Housewife from Kolkata, Ishrat was married off at a very young age of 17 and her inability to complete her education is something which she deeply regrets. Her aim for coming to MasterChef is to get her sisters’ married off at her own will and money. Her husband and in-laws been very supportive of her decisions.

Yasmin Shaikh: A 27-year old Yasmin Shaikh has come to MasterChef for with the sole intention of creating a new life for her kids and herself. After her husband was convicted and put behind bars, Yasmin and her young children were out casted by her own society. Ever since, she has been doing petty jobs and catering for various events just to make her ends meet.

Jehan Bomi Sarkari: This 37-year old is a banker by profession. He strongly believes that his dishes should not only be tasty but should also be able to win hearts. It was his mother and 7 year old son’s dream for him to be in MasterChef and he dedicates it to his Mother as she struggled a lot to bring up him and his siblings.
