The Pakistani Consulate in Dubai today confirmed that Pakistani pop singer and President of Youth Wing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, Abrar-Ul-Haq, has been stopped at Dubai International Airport - and an official has been sent to ascertain the reasons.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Muhammad Abdul Wahid Khan, Press Counsellor, Pakistan Consulate, said an official was sent in the morning to Dubai Airport to know whey Abrar-Ul-Haq has been stopped at the airport.

Khan said more updates will be announced soon once the exact reason is know for stopping Abrar.

Meanwhile, Syed Shuja of Dream Advertising and Ministry of Events, organiser of the Indo-Pak music festival tonight where Haq is slated to perform, denied the story entirely, saying: “There is no truth to this story at all. Abrar-Ul-Haq has not been detained or arrested at Dubai Airport.

“He is in fact sleeping in hotel room currently, after landing in Dubai on a 5am flight this morning.”

He added: “Abrar’s visa was submitted four days ago and sent to him at the same time. I don’t understand who would be spreading such rumours. Plus, the story of the Pakistani Embassy sending a team to the airport to resolve the issue is also nonsense.

“I want to reiterate, Abrar is safe and in Dubai and will be proceeding to a radio interview later today.

“And fans will be happy to know, he will take to the stage tonight and perform his hits with enthusiasm.”

Tonight’s concert features seven superstars from music industry and will be held at the Wonderland Theme and Water Park.

The concert which starts from 8pm, includes Kanika Kapoor, Meet Bros featuring Khushboo, Ankit Tiwari, Aman Trikha, along with DJ Shadow and DJ Scorpio.

The organisers have planned a series of Indo-Pak concerts and this is Part one of the series.

Haq is considered one of the pioneers of Pakistani pop music, with his defining hit ‘Billo De Ghar’ back in 1995 that has placed him in the category of living musical legends of the country’s music scene.
