The Bollywood actress who has taken a backseat on playing the leading lady since 2008 will soon face the camera again, albeit on the idiot box with her new celebrity chat show on UTV Stars.
Preity Zinta, who launched a twitter campaign, urging fans to suggest a name for her chat show, has finally zeroed in on the title: “Up Close and Personal With PZ”.
The 36-year-old made the announcement on the micro blogging site, tweeting: “Up Close and Personal with PZ.” That’s the name of the show guys. It will air on UTV Stars. I am so excited cause it’s with all my friends.”
Her Twitter posts of late have all been about her show, seeing Zinta tweeting earlier: “What should my show on UTV Stars be called? Please don’t say “The Preity Zinta Show.” I want you all to be original.”
The online campaign proved to be a big success, also seeing close friend and producer-director Karan Johar tweeting the title: “High Tea with PreTea;” clearly a play on his own celeb chat show, “Koffee With Karan”.
The 36-year-old actress commenced shooting for her show earlier this week, with Akshay Kumar as her first guest.
“Just finished the first day of shooting for my show,” she said Monday, adding: “It was so nice to chat with Akki [Kumar]. Full marks to him for being so amazing and humble.”
The actress is shooting back-to-back, with Tuesday seeing close friend and director-actor Farhan Akhtar facing the camera with her.
Akhtar clearly had a ball, who went online to say: “Shot with Preity Zinta today, on the eve of 10 years of “Dil Chahta Hai”. Nice one PZ. Had a good time. And you’ve found another thing you’re good at [sic].”
For those not in the know, Akhtar had directed the film “Dil Chahta Hai” in 2001, which went on to become a cult hit with the urban youth of India.
Of course, Zinta seemed pleased with her fan club, replying to Akhtar: “Hey Farhan, Thanks so much for the best day ever. Cannot believe how much fun we had. You totally rock. Lots of love always.”
Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Idiot Box is reportedly producing the show; it is expected to go on air on August 27th.
