Fashionable and flawless, Sonam Kapoor will be seen in a completely de-glam avatar as she plays the leading lady in Shahid’s life in their upcoming movie. This actress started off her journey with ‘Saawariya’ and has several flops in her career. Daddy Anil Kapoor produced film ‘Aisha’ saw the best of Sonam with all the fashion and style around her, but still failed to make a mark in the actress’ career.

And now with ‘Mausam’ this actress will be seen playing a graceful and mature character of a Kashmiri girl named Aayat. “This film is a labour of love. I am grateful to Pankaj sir and Shahid to have given me the chance to be a part of this film. We all have worked enormously hard and given it a lot of time and attention. This love story has been an overall different trip for us and I am sure the cine-goers will like ‘Mausam’”, says Sonam.

Five films old Sonam Kapoor is still an introvert and takes time to gel with her co-stars. She says, “I am shy and reserved by nature. I cannot mix up with anyone and everyone so very easily. Even when on shoots, I don’t talk much with my co-actors. But it was only Shahid with whom I became friendly after a few fights. We used to fight for our costumes and other accessories. These small tiffs got me close to him. We worked together with high spirits. I had heard that Shahid is very reserved but he had to break the ice with me.”

Shahid Kapoor plays the character of an Air force officer called Harinder Singh in the film. And to get the correct feel of the role, Shahid is sporting a moustache. “When I saw Shahid in the moustache look, I felt he looked exactly like my papa. But whenever I met him without a moustache I would feel he looked like an alien,” says Sonam. Apart from Shahid’s look in the film, he was not able to impress fashionista Sonam much. She says, “Initially I didn’t talk to him because he would roam around in slippers instead of wearing some nice shoes. He was pretty casual. But as time went by I accepted his fashion standards.”

Sonam Kapoor turned 25 while filming ‘Mausam’ and her father Anil Kapoor made it a special day for her. “I remember my dad had decided to celebrate my birthday in a special way. He came on the sets with a cake to wish me on my 25th birthday. Since we were all Kapoors on the set, there was a strange bonding between us. In all, working with Pankaj sir was a great learning experience,” concludes Sonam.
