Sridevi, Kajol voted Proud Icons of India by Television viewers

Indian actor Sridevi Kapoor, Kajol Devgn, Asha Sharath were among the celebrities voted by television viewers for the most coveted Asiavison Radio and Television Awards from the Middle East region.

"Sridevi who started her film career as a child artist in 1975 has done stunning roles in several Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada movies. She came back to the silver screen with her movie 'English Vinglish' in 2012 and got Padmashree by the Indian Government. She is voted as the Icon of India," said the award souvenir released during the glittering ceremony.

A series of stunning dance numbers from Sridevi's movies were performed by young dancers.

Both Kajol and Sridevi were present at the event along with Gautam Rode and Jennifer Winget who were voted as the Best Actor and Best Actress from Indian TV. 

The lead actors of 'Saraswathee Chand' were voted as the most popular TV actor and actress by TV viewers, who decided the Asiavision Radio and TV Awards through various platforms. 

Jennifer Winget who played the role of Kumud in this popular serial has been in the field for nearly a decade.

From the  Malayalam television,  MV Nikesh Kumar (Rgieporter TV –Best Prime Time News), John Brittas (Kairali TV –JB Junction Popular Show), Unni Balakrishnan (Mathruboomi News TV), Johny Lucose (Manorama News --Best Celebrity Interview) and Sreekandan Nair (Flowers TV), were voted to win various categories.  Ganesh Kumar (Former minister and film star), K P Jayadeep, Sindhu Surya Kumar, Prashanth Reghuvamsham, Jobby Vazhippilly,  Bindu Ganesh Kumar and Ramesh Pisharady from Asianet got best presenters, best  News Show presenter, best reporter, best cameraman and best Middle East abchannel awards.

KV Madhu from the Reporter TV got the best satire show award for his Democrazy. V Nandakumar has been voted the best communication personality.

Best social show and presenter from the Gulf television award went to VM Sathish, Encounters with VM Sathish (Darshana TV), a talk show on expatriate issues.

From the Gulf region  Weekend Arabia, a weekly socio political show by MCA Naser ( Media OneTV) got the best social show and best presenter awards.

Gulf This Week, another weekly show by Elvis Chummar, Jaihind TV got the best Gulf Show award. Iype Vallikkadan, Mathrubhoomi News Best Reporter (Middle Eastern Affirs) based on his coverage of the Yemen crisis, Moideen Koya, Salamt Cafe, a TV serial in Kairali and Chef Anil Kumar got the best cookery show award for his Media One TV show.

From the print media P P Shashindran (Mathrubhoomi Best Columnist), Jaleel Pattampil Editor, Middle East Chandrika (Best Feature), K M Abbas, Editoir Siraj Daily (Best Expatriate Report), Jaimon George (Malayala Manorama), Firoz Khan and Haneef Rahmani Pananarngara got best reporters writers awards.

V Nandakumar from EMKE Group is voted the best communication personality.

Laxmi Menon, who has a huge fan following on her Video Blog got the best Vlogger award. Popular tV anchor, Renjani Haridas was anchoring the show attended by who is who of Indian media and advertisement sector in the UAE.

In the radio segment, Vettoor G Sreedhararan, programme Director, Radio Asia 1269 AM s voted for the Radio Acharya Award for his vital role in the same position since 1995.

He has been a programme director for more than two decades and most of the prominent Malayalam radio personalities in the UAE have been groomed by Sreedharan. He is voted for the Radio Acharya Prize by the Radio TV listeners.  Other winners form the AM radio category are Hisham Abdul Salam (Best News Analyst), Anoop Keecheri,(Best News Reader)  Ranjani Santhosh (Best Female RJ), Rajeev Cherai, (Best Male RJ) Nithya, Ratheesh Kumar, Sheeba, et al got various  awards for their shows.

Jesitha Sanjith  (Asianet Radio) Rajeev Kodampally,Ramesh Payyannoor, Nandu Kavalam, RJ Manu, et al got various awards in the AM category. KV Shamsudeen, financial commentator got an award for his Asianet Radio programme. Melian and Swaralaya, (|Voice of Kerala), too got relevant awards.

Govind Padmasoorya, and Priyamani (D for Dance, Mazhavil Manorama) are voted the best anchor and best celebrity judge.
