Beyoncé's colourist has to do extensive "homework" on the 'Lemonade' hitmaker before highlighting her hair.

Beyoncé's colourist has to do extensive "homework" before highlighting her hair.

Rita Hazan - who started as a hair dresser aged 17 - has admitted the position of the 'Lemonade' hitmaker's highlights are "very important" and she has to attend the singer's concerts to carefully study her hair and how it falls to know exactly where to place the dye.

Speaking about Beyoncé's intense beauty regime, Rita said: "With Beyoncé, the placement of her highlights is very important to me, so I do homework. I go to her concerts and I watch how her hair moves in the wind!

"But it's important that your hair colour be customized to you. Look for images of women who has the same skin tone and eye colour as you so that you're confident the colour will work.

And the stylist has revealed the mother of two - who has four-year-old daughter Blue Ivy with her husband Jay Z - "constantly" changes her style.

She explained: "Beyoncé likes to change it up constantly! But if you're not on-stage like her, you can go a bit longer between touch-ups.

"[But] I see every one of my clients once a month, if not more ... But the truth is, your colour is going to fade. That's why I created a gloss that you can use two to four times a week before conditioning to help with vibrancy. You should have beautiful hair all the time."

And Rita - who boasts a large celebrity clientele including Mariah Carey, Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Lopez - has revealed she was the stylist behind the 'Heartbreaker' hitmaker's "dramatic change", which saw her change her brunette locks to a blonder shade for the cover of her 'Butterfly' album.

She said: "Mariah's hair was brown and I took her a lot blonder than she'd ever been. It was a dramatic change.

"I mean I grew up listening to Mariah Carey, so I was like, 'This is the coolest thing,' but [I had to] leave that at the door and do my job."

Lily Collins 'loves' face masks

Lily Collins "loves" face masks, but was cautious about experimenting with the array of the beauty treatments on a recent trip to Korea.

The 27-year-old actress has admitted she is a "big" fan of pampering herself with the facial treatment, but was "a little nervous" to sample any new beauty products whilst she was in Korea because she was shooting and was cautious about trialling anything that could be detrimental to the filming process.

Speaking about the beauty hacks she picked up from the country, she said: "Well, I'm a big face mask person--I love Lancôme's face masks--and it was just so interesting to walk around and see all the different ones they have in Korea.

"They have animal-shaped ones, superhero ones, and the names are hilarious. Skincare is such a huge part of their daily life there. They have eight or nine processes of putting on different products, so I was just fascinated with walking around and seeing all of them. I was filming, so I was a little nervous to try anything new, but the fashion there is so cool too.

"Same with Tokyo - anything goes. I love the little schoolgirl look. They do it so well. Nothing is odd there."

"I mean, self-expression in fashion and beauty is whatever you want it to be, and I appreciate that, and they have such an acceptance of differences. You'll see a lot of barely there make-up and a bold red lip, and that's it. It is quite striking. It was interesting to immerse myself in that world."

Meanwhile, the red headed beauty has hinted it takes her a long time to perfect a dark lipstick.

She told Byrdie.co.uk: "Believe me - when I'm putting make-up on and I do a dark lip myself, I'm the first to admit how long it takes me. It's a process, but you feel accomplished when it's done."

And the 'Love, Rosie' star has revealed she drinks through a straw so not to smudge her rouge pout.

She said: "I guess just being more aware that you have it on.

"Eat really carefully. Use a straw."
