Vidya Balan @ Cannes: Fashion flukes with Aishwarya Rai

During the closing ceremony of Cannes, Indian actress and Cannes jury member Vidya Balan opted for a floor-length Sabyasachi Mukherjee anarkali dress.

The shimmering golden sequin dupatta (veil) and olive colour dress reminds us of a certain saree worn by her colleague Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Vidya Balan decked up for the Closing Ceremony of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. This was Vidya's first Cannes stint, albeit her bold and unconventional fashion statement, we think she carried herself with a lot of grace during the entire festival.

The outfit was not so overwhelming but it was a refreshing change from her sarees. She braided hair and a matching clutch finished out her look.

Vidya has been loyal to her designer friend Sabyasachi throughout the event and perhaps because of this fallen prey to fashion coincidences.

Her full sleeve anarkali dress has a striking resemblance to Aishwarya Rai's black and gold saree designed by Sabyasachi.

The designer ended up giving the same look to the two actresses - god forbidden black full blouse, heavily embellished with gold.

Ash's saree was adorned with golden embroidery and sequin work and so was Vidya's veil.

Not just that Vidya also wore a huge nose-ring a day after Sonam Kapoor sported a huge kundan nose ring.

Looking back at her stay at Cannes, Vidya Balan overdid her conventional look by covering her head with a dupatta during the Cannes opening ceremony.

During each photocall her designer couldn't get the desired look; all her efforts to hide her extra flab made her look matronly.
 
Next time around Vidya can be less experimental and need not necessarily wear her Indianness on her sleeves.
