ServiceMarket.com, the UAE’s largest online marketplace for home services, surveyed almost 700 residents of Abu Dhabi to discover the area with the most satisfied residents!

Respondents of the survey were asked to rate their home and the neighborhood they live in on 19 different attributes, including; the amount of green areas, proximity to shops and restaurants, the amount of traffic and the availability of parking.

The top five rated areas are:

1.   Al Bateen (4.19), a very green area on the left of the island

2.   Al Khalidyah (3.86), an area close to the beach and to the business district

3.   Al Mushrif (3.81), home to Umm Al Emarat, one of the most popular parks

4.   Khalifa City (3.79), an area which hosts many large family oriented compounds

5.   Al Zahiyah (3.74), an area close to Abu Dhabi port

Some other interesting findings:

It appears that Abu Dhabi provides a sense of safety to its residents, with most respondents indicating that they feel safe in their neighbourhood.

Across all areas there was an overall rating of 4.39 out of a maximum of 5 for safety, which was the highest rating out of all 19 attributes!

On the other hand, residents generally seem to be less impressed with the quality of facilities in their building or compounds (such as the swimming pool and gym).

This attribute had an average overall rating of 2.71 out of 5. However, there appeared to be quite a large discrepancy in the ratings, with areas such as Al Reem, Khalifa City and Al Bateen scoring really well and the others scoring really poorly.

Al Bateen (an area with plenty of green area and walking possibilities) was rated the highest in terms of being pet friendly with a rating of 4.36 out of 5, while Madinat Zayed (the city center) was rated the lowest with a rating of 2.84 out of 5.

In terms of child friendliness, Al Bateen was also rated the highest with a rating of 4.29 out of 5, while residents felt Al Falah (East of the International Airport of Abu Dhabi) was less child friendly, rating it 3.22 out of 5.

Al Zahiyah was rated 3.00 out of 5 in terms of the availability of parking, which was the lowest score, while Al Bateen was rated the highest with a rating of 4.64 out of 5.

Residents of Al Zahiyah were not impressed with the amount of green areas in the neighbourhood, rating it a lousy 2.44 out of 5 on this attribute.
