Run, walk or simply dance your way to the finish line in the wackiest costume and illuminating lights, as the capital puts on its workout shoes to host the Electric Run next year.

After its launch scheduled for Meydan Dubai on November 6, the electric runway is lighting up in Abu Dhabi on January 29, 2016, where runners will conquer a 5k course packed with strobe lights, neon gear and bright colours.

The Daman’s ActiveLife event has opened registrations for interest, with the venue and ticket sales yet to be confirmed.

Organisers state tickets for the Dubai event are selling out fast with thousands of Electric Runners already signed up.

“We are delighted to bring to the UAE capital the world’s most social fun run. Soon Abu Dhabi residents will have the chance to buy tickets with their friends and family for this unique music and light spectacle,” said David Sanderson, Event Director from race organisers Fast Track.

Hailed as the world’s brightest 5K, the event is open to people of all ages whether you are a runner or a mall walker.

Aspiring Electric Runners can run the race or simply walk and dance their way to the finish line where they will be treated to a post-event concert with a light show and DJ sets.

Electric Run gained in popularity since 2013 and has raced to the finish line in London, Chicago, Los Angeles, Singapore, Sydney and New York.

The 5k route includes seven course lands Electro Rainforest, Rainbow Road, Candy Lane, Neffmaus Land, Colour Brick Road, The Powerhouse and Under the Sea.
