The eagerly anticipated UAE AeroPress Championship is set to return this August, marking its eighth edition with an unprecedented number of over 400 participants. This year’s competition is shaping up to be the largest and most thrilling event in the UAE’s coffee scene, offering a unique platform for baristas and coffee enthusiasts to demonstrate their brewing prowess.
Victors of the national championship will have the honor of representing the UAE at the World AeroPress Championship finals, which will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, in September 2024.
The championship will be hosted by the DMCC Coffee Centre, in collaboration with the DMCC Gaming Centre, for the fifth consecutive year. Saeed Alsuwaidi, Director of Agri Commodities at DMCC, stated, “We are delighted to host the 2024 UAE AeroPress Championship by the DMCC Coffee Centre once again. This event showcases the outstanding talent within our coffee community and underscores Dubai’s prominence as a global hub for specialty coffee. We are committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation and excellence.”
Garfield Kerr, CEO of Mokha 1450 and event organiser, commented, “Based on feedback from past participants who faced space limitations, we have expanded this year’s capacity to include almost all interested competitors, aiming to set a new world record.”
The competition will kick off with two regional championships on August 1st and 2nd, culminating in the national championship on August 3rd at the DMCC Almas Conference Centre in Almas Tower, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Dubai. This year’s theme, "Pressing Boundaries," emphasizes that pressure creates diamonds, exceptional coffee, and champions. The event will feature unique activations by the DMCC Gaming Centre, making it one of the year’s most exciting industry events.
Coffee aficionados and supporters are invited to witness and support the UAE’s best baristas and coffee enthusiasts as they vie for a spot on the world stage at the 2024 World AeroPress Championship, held from September 19-21 in Lisbon, Portugal.
