Several health experts advise that you should not allow your baby to use a baby walker. But if you are planning on getting one it is very important that you pick up one that meets all health checks and is safe for your little one to use.

Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council advises you think carefully before purchasing a baby walker.

The government agency advises to select a walker that is equipped with padded seating and appropriate back support.

While looking at the walker ensure the sturdiness of the wheels and look for ones with handles appropriate for a child’s grip.

Also, go for one that is equipped with brakes with adjustable height as well as anti-slippery extensions. Make sure it does not have sharp edges.

Check if it meets the childcare products conformity scheme in the country. This conformity scheme for childcare products has been developed in Abu Dhabi in collaboration with relevant regulators.

It enables suppliers of childcare products to obtain a certificate of conformity stating that their products meet the minimum safety requirements of the Emirate.

Products that are covered by this scheme include baby walkers, car seats, playing pens, folding baby cribs and safety seals. If the product that you intend to buy is approved under this scheme, you can be assured that it is safe to use for your child.

Also ensure that you buy a walker that is age appropriate as it will avoid any injuries. Furthermore, remove all obstacles that might collide with the walker. Avoid using it on a stairway or uneven flooring.

Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council’s aims to provide services that live up to quality and conformity standards, boost the infrastructure towards sustainable development and raise the quality of the traded products in order to enhance consumers trust and achieve competitiveness in the business and industrial sectors.
