'Dubai daughter' Arpita Kaur is Miss Congeniality at Miss India 2014

She may not have made it to the top, but Dubai-based Indian girl Arpita Kapur did earn the title of Miss Congeniality 2014 during the final round of the Indian beauty pageant.

The young lady describes herself as a Dubai daughter and aspires to be an interior designer. She won the title with a big margin. Her Facebook page shows she got 86.2 per cent of the total votes. “Here is my reward of all your support and love. People’s Choice Award. Thank you for all your Love and Support,” she wrote on her FB page.

Kaur was shortlisted as one of the 25 finalists competing for the very prestigious Femina Miss India 2014 title.

“A big thank you to everybody who believed in me, trusted in me and have constantly filled me with motivation and acted as pillars of support. God bless always,” she posted some time back after making it to the list of finalist.

She had appealed to her fans on Facebook to help her win Miss Multimedia Award, which would have taken her closer to the crown but could not make it. Another contestant, Irshikaa Mehrortra, took away the title of Miss Multimedia.       

Arpita was the only non-resident Indian to make it to the list of the finalists. All the other girls came from various parts of India.

Miss India or Femina Miss India is a national beauty pageant in India that annually selects three winners. The winner of Femina Miss India vies in Miss World, the first runner up in Miss Earth, and the second runner up in Miss Supranational.

This year, Delhi girl, Koyal Rana is crowned fbb Femina Miss India World 2014. She was also crowned Miss Teen India 2008, just at the age of 15. fbb Femina Miss India 2014 1st runner up is Jhataleka Malhotra and the 2nd runner up is Gail Da’Silva.

The winners of the fbb Femina Miss India 2014 pageant were declared at a star-studded event at the Yash Raj Studios, Mumbai.
