The racing legend Eddie Jordan will be hosting the Chequered Flag Ball on Friday November 12 at the InterContinental Hotel, Abu Dhabi.

The prelude to the Grand Prix promises a 5-course gourmet meal created by Jacques Rossel, alongside a complimentary drinks, world class entertainment and celebrity guests and hosts.

Eddie Jordan’s passion for racing developed after experiencing kart racing at a young age, which lead him to pursue a career in driving. The Irish born racing icon had a brief stint as a Formula Two and Formula Three driver in the 1970s, but is most well-known for being the founder and owner of Jordan Grand Prix, an F1 constructor which he operated from 1991 to 2005.

The brand new team quickly became the talk of the town as they exceeded expectations, gave Michael Schumacher his F1 debut and added flare through Eddie’s ‘rock and roll’ attitude; making Eddie undeniably the most entertaining team manager in the history of F1.

After Jordan, the team now named Force India still competes in Formula One and continues to operate out of Jordan’s old premises at Silverstone. Eddie currently shares his expert knowledge with the world through joining David Coulthard at the BBC commentating on F1.

In addition to hosting the Chequered Flag Ball, as a huge music fan, Eddie will take to the stage at the Chequered Flag Ball with his four piece band “Eddie and The Robbers”, which evolved from Eddie jamming at events like the British Grand Prix. He is the man behind the drums giving the band some serious revs to guarantee great music. The band have previously headlined at major events including the Pet Sounds Stage at T in the Park and performed for thousands at the Isle of Wight Festival.

Eddie is a patron of the child leukaemia charity, Clic Sargent, a leading children’s cancer charity and the only organisation to offer all-round care and support every step of the way. Clic Sargent's aim is to ease the burden of childhood cancer on children, young people and their families. In 2009, Eddie and The Robbers released the single ‘You Make Me Smile’ in aid CLIC Sargent.

Eddie Jordan stated: “Judging on all accounts of last year’s Chequered Flag Ball hosted by my fellow BBC 1 host David Coulthard, I can’t wait to host this year’s event. It will no doubt be another cracking night and definitely the place to be to start the F1 weekend.”

Eddie will be joined by award-winning artist, Beverley Knight, who will be performing live on the night and a host of celebrities from the track and screen
