Gold USB on offer… at discount!

In an era where gold is seen as the only safe haven for those with money to invest, companies in the UAE have not been shy from adding some glitter to their marketing campaigns. 

A gold USB is the latest on offer – available on a group discount site – for Dh1599, as against its advertised original price of Dh3,200. 

The adjective used by the site to describe the memory stick is “luxuriously-designed” though it does add that it has an interior covering of high quality wood and is made in Japan. 

And of course it is made from 24karat 999.9 pure gold leaf. 

The gold lure here in the Emirates has spawned ATMs that give out pure gold nuggets and coins. 

However, having your own gold memory stick puts a new hi-tech shine on the in-demand metal. 

A measure of just how precious the metal is in international markets is that on Friday, gold marked its biggest weekly rise in six weeks.

Spot gold prices rose $12.89 to $1,679.00 an ounce.
