3 killed, 5 hurt in Dubai crane collapse

Three construction workers were killed and five were injured when a giant crane collapsed at a work site near Burj Khalifa in Dubai on Sunday.

The crane was used to move up building materials from the ground to the top floor at a building under construction when it collapsed on fell on the workers.

Police and Civil Defence examining the site found that the crane was not installed properly and blamed the company for the accident.

“Three were killed and five suffered from medium to serious injuries. A number of company officials were arrested, including the on-site official, for interrogation,” Bur Dubai police chief Colonel Ali Ghanim said without identifying the victims.
