Stepping up its road safety efforts in the oasis city, the Al Ain Traffic Department seized 950 driving licences for various traffic violations, in the first five months of this year.
The seized documents include 157 bike licences while the rest were light vehicle licences, according to a report published in Khaleej Times.
“Seizing driving licences and toughening the law enforcement around road offenders and reckless drivers has had a great role in the safety of roads,” said Major Matter Abdullah Al Muheiri, Director of the Traffic Violations and Records Section, Al Ain Traffic and Patrols Department.
In the same period the department processed 48,703 transactions and Al Muheiri said the department endeavors to ease up and simplify the procedures introduced to customers and expedite traffic-related transactions to save applicants’ efforts and time.
