Dubai-Al Ain motorway to be ready in September

An expanded and improved motorway linking Dubai with the eastern oasis town of Al Ain will be fully operational in September more than two years after the Dh794-project was launched, the semi official daily Alittihad said on Sunday.

Part of the project stretching around 14 km will be inaugurated this week to bring the total expanded road to 45 km in both directions, it said.

“This means the entire project is about to be completed…we expect it to be fully operational and open to traffic by September,” the paper said, quoting Abdul Rahman Al Shatri, project manager.

The project was launched in June 2008 to expand the Dubai-Al Ain speedway in both directions, maintain existing tunnels and building new ones. It also involves upgrading lighting along the road, one of the busiest motorways in the UAE.

The road stretches from the Hili fun city in Al Ain to Fukh area near Dubai city and is part of overall road development carried out through the UAE.
