1,000 tablets of banned drug seized in Dubai

Dubai Police has arrested an Asian man in whose possession about a thousand tablets of a drug, which is prohibited except for therapeutic purpose, were found.

Colonel Eid Mohammed Thani Hareb, acting Director of Dubai Police’s General Department of Anti-Narcotics,  said the accused was arrested while he was in a rented car in Al Quoz area. He is 29, married and unemployed.

Col. Eid said about a thousand tablets of the banned drug were found in the home of the accused. A large sum of money was also found which the accused admitted to be the proceeds of sales of the drug. He is also suspected to be using the drug.

Police said the accused’s brother, 40, is in prison for using psychotropic substances.
