Dubai residents reported a total of 500 suspicious activities using ‘Police Eye’ app, which was launched by Dubai Police. And surprisingly, noticing a suspicious vehicle topped the list of reports received through this app.
Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Ahmed Mohammed bin Fahad, System Analysis Project Manager in Dubai Police said this is a lifesaving application and more than one million people have downloaded the application.
The app was recently updated, both on Android and iPhone, he said urging residents to update it on their phones. It is also available in Arabic, English, French, Russian, German and Chinese.
He added that the app allows residents to report suspicious activities in their neighbourhood or if they know of any illegal activities such as selling phone credit, alcohol, drugs, or gambling or even if they notice a suspicious gathering, destruction of properties, etc.
Fahad added that residents can keep their identity anonymous and not fear of getting questioned if they reported a suspicious activity.
“We urge residents to download the app and report suspicious activities. This will help in keeping the emirate more safe and secure.”
He pointed out that this service is not linked to Al Ameen secret police service.
“It is a different service, which offers maximum privacy to those who report crimes or suspicious activities.”
