730 car accidents in Sharjah during Eid holidays

Sharjah witnessed 730 car accidents during Eid holidays that claimed two lives, according to a police official.

"The first day witnessed 195 accidents. On the second day, 267 mishaps were reported when one person was killed and three Asians injured while crossing the road. The third day saw 268 accidents," said Lt Col Ahmad bin Darwish, Head of Patrols and Anjad, Sharjah Police.

According to 'Al Bayan' newspaper, nine people died and 104 were injured in road accidents across the UAE during Eid holidays.

General Directorate for Traffic Coordination of Interior Ministry said, 85 serious mishaps were reported during the period, with six people hurt seriously and 73 suffering minor injuries.

Umm Al Quwain witnessed eight accidents where one person lost his life and three people were injured during the period.
