Abu Dhabi cars to have fire extinguishers

Abu Dhabi has told its drivers to equip their vehicles with fire extinguishers to improve their safety and set Sunday as a deadline for the decision.

The decision affects all heavy and light vehicles in the emirate and it was announced during a traffic awareness campaign by the Ministry of Interior early this year.

“A deadline complying all cars in the emirate to have fire extinguishers ends on Sunday,” the Arabic language daily Al khaleej said.

It said extinguishers sell for between Dh80 and 160 at retail shops but did not make clear whether those who fail to meet the deadline would be penalized.
