An airhostess of a Russian airline fell from the aircraft onto the Dubai airport runway when a loading bridge rammed into the plane, an official report has confirmed.

The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) report found that Ural Airlines’ aircraft parked at Dubai International Airport on February 16 was involved in an accident when a hi-loader catering truck rammed into the A321 plane, resulting in a gap near the door.

A female cabin crew member standing nearby fell through the gap on to the tarmac from a height of approximately three metres (9.8 feet) and sustained serious injuries. She was immediately shifted to a hospital.

It said one crew was injured seriously and 7 sustained minor/none injuries. However, none of the passengers were injured in the incident.

The accident happened at night time on Terminal 1 and the lights were lit at the time of accident.

The crew member sustained serious injury and was transported to the hospital, GCAA report said.

The result of the Hi-Loader driver’s blood test did not reveal any material that could adversely affect his physiological or psychological performance.

GCAA said he aircraft sustained damage to the lower right side where the skin was punctured while the Hi-Loader was also damaged as a result of the impact to the aircraft.

The sole objective of this Investigation is to prevent aircraft accidents and incidents. It is not the purpose of this activity to apportion blame or liability, the GCAA report said, adding that additional information will be addressed during the course of the investigation.
