Ajman cylinder blast badly damages apartment, nine cars

A powerful gas cylinder explosion which rocked an apartment in Horizon Towers in Ajman at dawn on Monday has caused no casualties but badly damaged the flat and some cars parked outside, according to civil defence.

The blast occured in an apartment in the towers in Rashidiya owned by an Emirati family, triggering panic rush by the residents and attracting a large number of police and civil defence units which brought all that family members out to safety.

“No one was hurt in the explosion but it caused heavy damage to the apartment. Nine cars parked outside the building were also damaged by debris from the flat,” Emarat Al Youm daily said, quoting Colonel Nassir Al Zari, information and public director in Ajman’s civil defence.
