Al Ain to have new Dh100m road

Al Ain Municipality has commenced designing of the Dh100 million Eastern Road at Hili Khalif area.

Ahmed Al Dhahiri, manager of the project, said: "When completed, the road will link Al Ain with Dubai and Northern Emirates. The design will take into consideration the projected tremendous increase in the number of vehicles and intensity in vehicular movement towards the Hili border checkpoint, Hili residential complex and Hili industrial zone through 2020."

He disclosed that the construction work will commence in the second quarter of 2011.

A six-month traffic study commissioned mainly for the project says the average daily trips from Qatara road to Hili border checkpoint stand at 1,600 per hour at the evening peak time in 2020 with the worst case scenario is 500 vehicles per hour.
