The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is constructing two dedicated lanes for cylists and bikers along Al Qudra Street.
The project estimated to cost about Dh19 million will stretch 4 km and cover Al Qudra street in Al Seeh Al Salayam area in Dubai, reported 'Al Bayan'.
The lanes are designed considering the safety of cyclists and bikers, would be ready by end-June, said RTA.
Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman and Executive Director, RTA, said work on bicycle lanes started in February.
"The first track for bicycles will extend 18km to the north of Al Qudra Road. The track begins at the first roundabout after the bridge over the Dubai Bypass Road and extends up to the roundabout near Bab Al Shams resort on Al Qudra Road," he said.
The second track of about 27km begins from Hotel Bab Al Shams and extends until Al Qudra Roundabout before it veers south to Seeh Al Dahl.
The project also includes the completion of bicycle lanes on Jumeirah Street number (7) which intersects with Jumeirah Road and connects Al Mankhool along 13.7 kilometres.
Similarly, tracks along 1.5km stretch around the Mall of Emirates station is also included in the project.
