If you’re heading for the inaugural Spring Edition of Gitex Shopper next month, then there’s a good news for you.

The organizer – Dubai World Trade Centre – has halved entrance fee for the public for the region’s biggest consumer electronics exhibition which will run from April 3 to 6 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The new entrance fee for the three-day show is Dh15 as compared to Dh30 for the eight-day October edition held last year, DWTC said.

Entrance for children below the age of 5 years is free. Children below the age of 14 years must be accompanied by an adult at all times, the organizer said. Tickets are available at the venue and from selected Eppco, Enoc and Zoom outlets. The exhibition will run from 11am to 11pm on all days.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, ordered in October 2012 that the organiser will hold Gitex Shopper twice a year in view of the increasing demand.

An official said the entrance for the autumn edition, which will take place on October 5-12, 2013, has not yet been decided. “It’s too early to decide any entrance fee.”

According to DWTC figures, visitors bought consumer electronic items worth Dh237 million during the 8-day October 2012 edition. A survey conducted by the organizer revealed that 82 per cent of visitors would wait for Gitex Shopper to buy the latest gadgets.
