Boy falls into Fujairah dam

Two Emiratis drowned in separate incidents over the weekend.

While an eight-year-old boy died after falling into Al-Seiji dam in Fujairah when playing with his friends on Friday, another youngster lost his life when his car was washed away by heavy rains in Oman, reported Arabic daily ‘Al Khaleej’.

Brigadier-General Mohammed bin Rashid bin Naya’a Al Tunaiji, Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Fujairah Police, said the operations room received information about the accident on Friday and a rescue team rushed to the site.

The eight-year-old boy, A.M.M, was lifted and rushed to Al Dhaid Hospital.

However, he could not be saved.

The boy fell into the dam while playing with his friends. Police is investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, an Emirati from Al Ain, A.G.S., drowned on Friday evening when his car was caught in the flood waters in Al Mudhaiba province of neighbouring Oman.

He was with four other friends.

Oman civil defence rescued his friends trapped inside the vehicle.

The deceased’s boy was handed over to his relatives and he was buried in Al Ain on Saturday.

Oman has been witnessing heavy rains, which has so far has claimed at least seven lives in various parts of the country.
